Terms of service
Matter Manager is pre-alpha software, offered free of charge. These terms are deliberately plain about what that does and does not entitle you to.
Who these terms are with
TinyApps Inc., Alder Estate #1471, Taguig, NCR, The Philippines — hello@matter-manager.io ("we"). They cover this website and the hosted Matter Manager service. Using either one means you accept them.
Matter Manager is also Apache-2.0 licensed source code. If you run your own instance, that licence governs it and these terms do not apply.
Eligibility
You must be 18 or older, and able to enter into a binding contract, to hold an account.
Your account
An account is required to use Matter Manager — your catalogue lives in it. You create one by signing in with Google, which needs a connection, once. Afterwards the catalogue, searching, code regeneration and PDF export all work offline.
One account belongs to one person. Keep your credentials to yourself, and tell us at hello@matter-manager.io if you think somebody else has them. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.
What Matter Manager is not
It is a catalogue. It does not commission, control or monitor devices, and it never contacts your devices, your network or your Matter fabric. Nothing in these terms is a warranty that a code you stored will still pair a device: whether it does depends on the device and its manufacturer, not on us.
Your content
Your catalogue is yours — the codes, names, rooms, photos, dates and remarks you put into it. You grant us only the permission we need in order to run the service for you: to store that content, to show it back to you, and to show it to people you deliberately share a project with. We claim no ownership of it, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train anything.
Matter setup passcodes are stored unencrypted, protected by database isolation and transport security. That is a documented trade-off rather than an oversight, written up in SECURITY.md. Storing codes with us means accepting it, so please read it first.
Acceptable use
Do not use Matter Manager to:
- store commissioning codes for devices you have no right to control;
- reach, or try to reach, another person's account or project;
- probe, overload or scrape the service, or resell access to it;
- store unlawful content, or anything you have no right to keep.
Free accounts carry no guarantees
The free tier exists so that Matter Manager is useful to people who will never pay for it. It is provided as is and as available, and specifically:
- Your data may not survive. We do not promise that the contents of a free account will survive a fault, a migration or a mistake on our side, and for free accounts we run no restorable backups. Export a PDF and file it with your house documents: that is the copy we recommend you actually rely on, and it is a large part of why the export exists.
- No uptime commitment. There is no availability target, no promised response time, no advance notice of maintenance and no compensation for downtime.
- We may suspend or delete a free account — for prolonged inactivity, for abuse, or because we stop offering a free tier at all. Where it is reasonably possible we will write to your account address first.
- The free tier may change. Its limits and features may change, and the tier may be withdrawn entirely. Nothing here promises that today's limits still apply tomorrow.
None of that is an intention. We do not plan to lose anybody's data, and the project is built in the open, test-first, so that you can judge that for yourself rather than take our word for it. It is a statement about what you may hold us to, which on a free account is nothing.
Paid plans
Plans and their prices are announced at launch. Paid plans will carry their own commitments, stated when they exist. Until then nothing on this site is an offer, and the plan table is a statement of intent rather than a contract.
Suspension and termination
You may stop at any time and delete your account; the privacy notice says what then happens to your data. We may suspend or end an account for a material breach of these terms, and free accounts also as described above.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for the cost of re-commissioning a device whose code you could not retrieve. Our total liability is limited to what you have paid us, which on a free account is nothing.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. When a change matters to you we will write to your account address before it takes effect, and the date below always says when this page last changed. Continuing to use the service afterwards means you accept the new version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of them.
